MATH 430: Thoery of Numbers
Description
- Intructor: Masoud Zargar
- Course description: This is a course on (elementary) number theory, covering the basic problems with which this subject deals, as well as how it is related to other areas of mathematics. Throughout the course, I will also inspire some abstract mathematics that has been developed to generalize some related classical concepts. We will try to follow the first 9 chapters of the textbook, with some deviations into analytic number theory and very basic abstract algebra.

Personal Comments
MATH430, especially instructed by Professor Zargar, is an excellent proof-based course for beginners. During the 2022 Fall semester, 6+13 out of 40 students get grade in A range. You need to be prepared to take notes, do bonus problems on the homework, and try to understand the proofs and materials. You will learn much if you put in the effort, and I highly recommend the course.
